Rules on how to create spot and our approval

PhotoSpotLand, rules and advice for your perfect spot.

First of all, this rules existing to be broken, we try to explain what we consider useful to publish as a 'spot' on our platform but we are open mind, so we accept any new ideas and we can consider all breaking rules.
Please, visit often this page because we emend rules based on what happens on the platform and by your advice, comments and ideas.

Second thing, for us is important the 'spot', we prefer a very hidden spot with a bad photo than a fantastic photo of a famous landmark or a beautiful sunset or sunrise without any context.

Third thing, we try to care for whatever it is useful or has appeal for tourists and/or for a local which want to discover a destination. Something beautiful, awesome, curios and/or unusual.

Fourth thing, please do not be offended if we can’t publish a spot created by you, probably we can’t publish to maintain an hight standard to favorite yourself. It can also happen because we drink too much glass of wine, in that case we'll review the spot and contact you to improve it, if it need.

Some important points on how to fill out a spot:

A) Title: please describe as well as possible the spot, mentioning the city
Example: “Church of Immaculate, Myfair, London”
or “The Shard, view from London Bridge Station”
Title like “The Shard” or “Sunset from the beach” aren’t accepted.

B) About the location, you can set your actual position or extract the position from a photo in your roll, just take care to select GPS or Main Photo. You can also change the position tap on the coordinate, press hard the pin on the map and move it. Or insert a new address manually.

C) Description: please describe what you see, why this place is special etc. We can add more info, but having a good starting point will be useful.

D) Ideal parameters: if you shoot only with your iPhone we understand that can be a little difficult, so don’t worry we'll try to provide them, if you shoot in the same time with a compact or DSLR camera please copy the shooting parameters.

E) Things to watch: often around your spot there are something other great things to watch or visit (and useful to invite creating a new spot), for example in this field you can report that on the right side there is a statue or a mews. Or simple write if near there is a museum or any other things that will be useful to discover.

F) Things to avoid: please write here any potential danger (like take care to don’t walk to much near to a cliff) or info on what can make it unpleasant or difficult to visit the place like how to avoid crowd of people, or long queue for ticket etc.

G) If you attend an event please tell us if it’s a recurrent event or una tantum event.

H) Tags: please add tags to help search the spot like “London”, “pub”, “hidden gem”, “monument”, “landmark” etc etc There are already some existing tags that allow you to catalog your spots correctly and automatically in the 'What Section' of platform, to find it by searching by category, but you can add all tags that come to mind for you spot, this helps us to better organize spots.

All of these field, an more others like Visitor Center Info, Social Link of the spot, Nearest food, Nearest accommodations, Ideal days/months/seasons/hours to shoot can be completed on our web site photospotland.com, we work to can access on all other info directly from the mobile app but please meanwhile use the web platform, thanks.

ABOUT THE SPOT and PHOTOS

Please, if you can, insert more than only one photo, this is important to show different point of view of your spot.

What we looking for a spot:

Something new, something special, any things that it’s beautiful to see and/or curios. Any things that can be relevant on our mission to help discovering great destination. A spot can be a new way to view at a landmark or at a monument or at an attraction, an hidden gem, a fantastic panorama. When you create a spot, ask yourself if it is something you want to discover and visit when you travel. When you create a spot use the 3 photos we allow to upload in creative way but let people to better understand. For example if you create a spot of a place where is possible to admire a fantastic sunset or sunrise, publish a sunset/sunrise photo but also use the other two photo to describe the place also not at the sunset/sunrise moment.
If you create a spot on a landmark on an attraction please try a new point of view, we aren’t interest to a traditional photo of the Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower.
Don’t be generic to create post about an entire town like “Paris”.
When you create a spot don’t upload only a detailed photo like a detail of a bridge, without publish at least another photo of the entire bridge.
Before you create a spot verify if the spot already exist and in that case better describe how your point of view is different.
If you have great photos of a spot already created please contact as at socialadmin@photospotland.com we can see if we can insert your photo.
